Could Eagles’ Edge Rusher Strengthen Their Defense.
The Los Angeles Rams, who finished the season with the fewest sacks in the league, may be able to bolster their defensive line via trade. In addition to losing several players to retirement, the Philadelphia Eagles have been parting ways with a lot of their skill, including Kevin Byard. Could the Rams be interested in acquiring either Josh Sweat or Haason Reddick if they were to deal one of them?
Reddick was one of the greatest edge rushers in the NFL this past season and was selected to the Pro Bowl. With 11 sacks during the season, he totaled 13 tackles for loss. He will be 30 later this season, though, and his immediate contribution to the team’s victory would be invaluable.
Being three years younger than Reddick, Sweat may be a more long-term addition if the organization were to attempt to sign him. Due to the quality of players on the Eagles’ defense, his numbers were somewhat obscured as he ended the season with 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
One of these two players might be acquired by the Rams in a trade, which would greatly improve their defensive line. The Rams’ defense is so young that a seasoned presence may be all the difference between them making a big impact and helping the club compete.
