Russell Wilson, the soon-to-be former quarterback for the Denver Broncos, is expected to sign a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a recent podcast by Bill Simon. The 35-year-old will be freed by the Broncos on Wednesday, the first day of the NFL league season, the team confirmed.
Wilson is reportedly going to sign a one-year contract with a veteran minimum of $1.2 million with the Steelers. He posted a video of Steelers fans waving the Terrible Towel on Instagram with the remark, “Year 13.” Thank you,” he wrote, tagging the Pittsburgh Steelers to confirm his relocation.

Wilson had been in the middle of a lucrative five-year deal with the Broncos worth $242.5 million before his release. ESPN reports that he was granted permission to meet with the Steelers, as he technically remains under contract with Denver until Wednesday.
Joining the Steelers, Wilson will accompany Kenny Pickett as the team’s quarterbacks, with Mason Rudolph, who spent six years with the Steelers, now an unrestricted free agent.
Wilson’s journey to Pittsburgh comes after a decade with the Seattle Seahawks, where he clinched a Super Bowl victory in 2014 against the Denver Broncos led by Peyton Manning. In 2022, he was traded to the Broncos in exchange for three players and multiple draft picks.
