Ravens Free Agency: Ex Dallas Cowboy Needed at Cornerback? | Yardbarker

Through free agency and the NFL Draft in April, the Baltimore Ravens will keep assembling a team for the future. Cornerback is one position that general manager Eric DeCosta will eventually need to address. Following Marcus Peters’ offseason departure for Las Vegas, Baltimore had difficulty finding a replacement.

Even though it’s feasible that one or both of the latter return, is there a better choice to portray Marlon Humphrey’s opposite? Stephon Gilmore, a former cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, is available and might help Baltimore’s defensive secondary. Although Gilmore has recently been a journeyman, his early professional success has accompanied him to every position.

Throughout his career, he has lived in Buffalo, Dallas, Carolina, Indianapolis, New England (where he won two Super Bowls), and Dallas. 29 interceptions have been recorded by Gilmore since his 2012 NFL debut. Playing in all 17 games during the Cowboys’ previous season, Gilmore frequently drew the top wideout in the opposition when Trevon Diggs had a season-ending injury in Week 2. He recorded 13 passes defensed, one interception, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Along with 54 solo tackles, the former South Carolina Gamecock cornerback totaled 68 total tackles. Spotrac forecasts Gilmore to sign a $11.1 million, one-year contract in free agency; the Ravens would need to find other ways to make ends meet. However, Gilmore might be a desirable choice for Baltimore given the other names that are available, such as Xavien Howard, who is hoping to lure even more teams in free agency after being cut by the Dolphins this offseason.
