A forced out due to an eye ailment, Anthony Davis of the Lakers faced the Warriors.

When Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis accidentally struck Anthony Davis in the face during a layup, Davis was forced to leave the game after the first quarter on Saturday night with a left eye contusion and will not be returning, the team announced. Although he played for a few more minutes, Davis was ultimately declared out.

In the 12 minutes that Davis played, Los Angeles outscored Golden State by six points. The All-Star big man for the Lakers finished with eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, and one block.

In Davis’ absence, Lakers coach Darvin Ham turned to backup center Jaxson Hayes.
Los Angeles entered the evening leading the Warriors by one game for the ninth-best slot in the Western Conference rankings.
