Isak, Willock & Schar: Newcastle United injury news latest and return dates ahead Arsenal clash
Over the past few months, Newcastle United has struggled with injuries and inconsistency, making a top-four finish now firmly out of reach.
Eddie Howe will not be happy with the Magpies’ recent defeat to Chelsea, as they now lie in ninth place. But tomorrow presents a different kind of challenge as Manchester City stands in their way of securing a spot in the FA Cup semifinals.
This weekend, Newcastle United will want to make it five games without a loss in the Premier League, but they will have to overcome championship challengers Arsenal in order to do it. With a win in North London, Eddie Howe’s team, who has won two and drawn two of their last four top division games, may climb to seventh place.
But the Magpies arrive in the city at an ominous time. In three of the last five Premier League games that the Gunners have won, they have scored five goals or more. They did, however, make a mistake against FC Porto in the Champions League over the week, and they will need to overcome a one-goal disadvantage in the second leg.
But before that, they will host Newcastle on Saturday evening, and the Magpies will arrive at the Emirates without a number of recognisable first team names at their disposal. With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at their current injury list, and any expected return dates where available, below…
Wilson could be out for three months after suffering a pectoral injury that required surgery during the recent win over Nottingham Forest. Speaking about the complaint, Eddie Howe said: ‘It’s a really strange injury, a tussle right at the end of the game. Initially, we thought it was his shoulder, but it is his pectoral muscle. He went to see a specialist, and he is having it operated on as we speak.’
