Giants to meet with versatile Michigan offensive lineman ahead of pro day.
sistant coaches from the New York Giants will be present at the University of Michigan’s pro day. Throughout the predraft phase, they have shown a great deal of interest in numerous Michigan prospects.
The Giants have lately shown interest in offensive tackle Karsen Barnhart of Michigan. In order to scout Barnhart and the other draft prospects from Michigan at the next pro day, they will have a private meeting with him on Friday.
The Giants were one of many teams to meet privately with Barnhart this week, as reported by Justin Melo of The Draft Network. Prior to Michigan’s pro day on Friday, Barnhart had private meetings with the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants. On Thursday, he spoke with the Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Ravens. Teams from all over the league are showing a lot of interest in the Wolverines linemen.
Barnhart may end up being the Giants’ third-round selection target. The 6-foot-4, 306-pound lineman has been targeted by multiple clubs during the pre-draft process, but his projection is for day three.
One of Barnhart’s best qualities as an offensive lineman is his versatility, something the Giants respect. During his time at Michigan, he started 31 games at left tackle, right tackle, left guard, and right guard. Carmen Bricillo, the new offensive line coach, will have plenty of options with a developmental offensive lineman who can play four of the five positions on the roster.
Barnhart gave up 24 pressures and four sacks on 836 snaps for Michigan in 2023. This season, he played a significant amount of right tackle but spent the majority of his snaps at right tackle (451).
Barnhart is contributing his athleticism as well. He ran a fantastic 40-yard sprint in the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, splitting the 10. Barnhart took part in the East-West Shrine Bowl this year as well. Attending the occasion as head coach, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka got a close-up look at Barnhart.
For the Giants, strengthening the offensive line is a top goal. They might want to take a chance on Barnhart as a late-round, day three prospect. The addition of Barnhart to New York’s offensive line would be a high-upside developmental talent.
