Analyst Pairs Two Current NFL Players With A Michigan RB Prospect.
The 2024 NFL Draft is loaded with talent at a few specific positions, but running back is not one of them. The quarterback, offensive tackle, and wide receiver classes are being praised for both their depth and their top-level talent, but fans aren’t hearing much about when some of the biggest names at running back will be coming off the board, particularly a certain National Champion who is starting to fly under the radar.
Greg Cosell appeared on the Ross Tucker Podcast to discuss star Michigan RB Blake Corum, and said regarding his potential comparisons, “two guys popped into my head…Devin Singletary and Kyren Williams.” Cosell also praised Corum for “understanding his blocking scheme, for understanding how gaps change when the ball is snapped, for understanding defensive flow.”
He noted how these traits are innate and very difficult to learn, and that they make up for some of Corum’s limited athleticism. Corum had a decorated 4-year career as a Wolverine and was an absolute workhorse the past couple of years. The RB had 1,463 and 1,245 yards over the past two seasons and in his career, amassed a whopping 58 rushing touchdowns.
In 2023, he scored at least one touchdown in every game, including two in each of the playoff games en route to a National Championship. At the NFL Combine, Corum came in at 5’8″ and 205 pounds and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash, which is not great for a running back of his size. Corum is currently projected as a Day 2 pick but could potentially slip to Day 3 if some other more athletic running backs leapfrog him between now and the draft.
