NRL Signings Tracker for 2024: Collins signs a 2028 contract with the Roosters
Lindsay Collins, an enforcer with the Sydney Roosters, has extended his contract by two years, meaning he will stay with the team until the end of the 2028 campaign.
Although the 27-year-old was already signed until 2026, the Roosters acted swiftly to sign him to a long-term contract so he could continue to lead the team once Jared Waerea-Hargreaves leaves at the end of current campaign.
Since making his Roosters debut in 2017, Collins has participated in 94 NRL games and has represented both Queensland and Australia.
Trent Robinson, the coach of the Roosters, is happy with how his pack has been put together and has encouraged Collins to assume greater leadership roles after JWH leaves.
Robinson stated, “Lindsay’s important to us as a leader and as a leading prop.”
Securing those two items—a top player in the game and one of our captains—gives your group security for an extended amount of time because he has joined that captain’s group for the first time this year. Looking around and seeing Lindsay here is pleasant.
Nick Meaney, the center for the Storm, has extended his contract, keeping him in Melbourne till at least the end of the 2026 campaign.
After playing for Canterbury and Newcastle, Meaney joined the Storm in 2022. Since then, he has appeared in 52 games and scored 24 tries for the purple team.
“Moving to Melbourne has been a great decision for life in general and career-wise,” Meaney stated.
“After only a short while, I truly felt at home in Melbourne and at the club. With my family, I’ve established a home here, and I’m thrilled that my future is set up through the conclusion of the 2026 season.”
Mitch Kenny, a hooker who has won two premierships, has agreed to a new three-year contract that will keep him with the Panthers through at least the conclusion of the 2027 campaign.
Kenny, a local kid who advanced via the team’s pathways program, made his debut for the Panthers in 2019 and has since played 86 games in the top division, contributing significantly to their victories in the grand finals in 2022 and 2023.
Kenny remarked, “I’m excited to dedicate myself to the Panthers because this place is home to me.”
“I’m thrilled to return the favor to Ivan Cleary and the entire team, who have believed in me from the start.
“It’s great to have the opportunity to continue wearing the Panthers jersey and representing our community for another three seasons.”
Kiwi international Matt Timoko has re-signed with the Raiders until at least the end of 2026 with an option for a further two seasons.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise since coming into first-grade with 20 tries in his 64 appearances to date, as well as a recent debut for New Zealand during their successful 2023 Pacific Championships campaign.
“This club has done a lot,” he said. “The big thing I can see with this club is there is a clear pathway of where they want to get to and there’s a lot of emerging talent.
“I really believe that this club can do a lot of special things over the next couple of years, so I’m happy to be on board, be along with the journey and help some of the younger guys coming through too.”
The Dragons have confirmed that centre Zac Lomax will not stay at with the Red V beyond the 2024 season, after reaching an agreement for his departure from the club at the end of the year.
While Lomax will fulfil his contractual obligations with the Dragons for the 2024 season, his contracted years for 2025 and 2026 will be terminated with no financial contribution to be made by the club in these years.
The Cowboys have extended forward Sam McIntyre on a new a two-year deal which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
Arriving in North Queensland mid-way through the 2023 season after stints at the Wests Tigers Titans, the 26-year-old has earned a place in Todd Payten’s first-choice 17 after an impressive pre-season.
Isaiya Katoa, a youthful, explosive player, has been re-signed by the Dolphins, who have extended his contract by three years, keeping the Tongan international on board till at least the end of 2028.
The 20-year-old half played 22 NRL games for the NRL’s newest team in his inaugural season last year after joining the Dolphins from the Panthers’ junior system. He then represented Tonga in their Test series against England.
