In the first 42 days of the portal being open, Louisville lost 18 scholarship players who have said they’ll transfer. The Cardinals picked up their first portal commitment on Dec. 5 when former Oregon and Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough said he was headed to Louisville for his final season.

And the prospects have been rolling in since then.

The Cardinals currently have the No. 6 transfer portal class in the 247Sports Portal Rankings with 24 confirmed commitments.

It’s like free agency in the NCAA with the portal opening on Dec. 4. The portal window for football has been reduced from 45 days to 30, per a new ruling by the NCAA Division I Council, which means the portal closed on Jan. 3.  Graduate transfers aren’t restricted by the portal window. A player can still remove their name from the portal and stay at their respective program but most players who enter the portal do not return to their previous school.

This will serve as the Cardinal Authority Transfer Portal Headquarters where we will track Louisville players transferring out, new additions for the Cardinals, portal offers and interesting names that pop up.
