Roundup of NFL trade deadlines: Broncos remain unmoved
Ahead of the NFL trade deadline, the Denver Broncos remained committed to their current roster. These are a some of the more significant trades that took place across the league.
The NFL trade deadline expired at 2:00 PM MT on Tuesday, and the Denver Broncos did not acquire or trade any players. After winning consecutive games and moving into the thick of the AFC playoff picture, Mike Klis said shortly before the deadline that the team had received trade offers but still felt confident in their current collection of players.
The Washington Commanders were among the major movements made, but this could not be said for the remainder of the league. But all in all, it was a really uneventful trading day. Not many players were switched around. While the Commanders are focusing on their defense going forward, the San Francisco 49ers have continued to bolster their already dominant defense. The quarterback that the Minnesota Vikings selected is someone they believe can take over for the injured Kirk Cousins.
NFL Trade Deadline Instances
Leonard Williams, a Giants defensive lineman, is traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
On Monday, the Seahawks made the first move, acquiring defensive tackle Leonard Williams of the New York Giants in exchange for second and fifth round selections.
Commanders edge rusher Montez Sweat is traded to the Chicago Bears.
In exchange for Sweat, the Bears awarded the Commanders a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. For a player who was formerly thought of as a cornerstone defensive player, that is a top selection choice for the Commanders.
Josh Dobbs, quarterback for the Cardinals, is traded to the Minnesota Vikings.
Kirk Cousins’ season-ending injury has left the Vikings with a huge offensive hole. Since Dobbs has been performing well for the Cardinals, the Vikings were able to acquire him for a sixth and seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as Kyler Murray is expected to return.
Jacksonville Jaguars acquire guard Ezra Cleveland from the Vikings
Traded offensive guard Ezra Cleveland to the Vikings in exchange for a sixth-round pick by the Jaguars. Head Coach Doug Pederson was happy about the trade, telling The Pat McAfee Show, “Obviously, getting a good player to come in here and help us, and we’ve already got a good offensive line, and Ezra can come in and give us some really good depth, and it’s just a matter of getting him caught up and getting him in the room with a really good offensive line- guys like Brandon Scherff, he’s the leader in there, and Luke Fortner, and you look at these guys- Cam Robinson, Walker Little, these guys are just busting their tail every week. Thus, by acquiring a player of Ezra’s caliber, we acquired a starting-type
guard, who strengthens and improves our offensive line.
Pass rusher Chase Young of the Commanders gets traded to the San Francisco 49ers.
Only a third-round pick could be sent by the 49ers to the Commanders in exchange for Chase Young’s services. After this season, Young will become a free agent, giving the 49ers the opportunity to re-sign the 24-year-old pass rusher to a long-term contract.
Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones of the Browns is traded to the Detroit Lions.
Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones was traded by the Lions to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite only being 24 years old, DPJ will be a free agent at the conclusion of the season.
Rasul Douglas, a defensive back, is traded by the Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have selected defensive back Rasul Douglas of the Green Bay Packers with a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In exchange, the Packers received a fifth-round pick in the deal. The 28-year-old just renegotiated his contract to transfer cap hits to future years and free up extra space, but for now, that would be the Bills’ issue.
