Mike Tomlin: During Pro Days, I occasionally tamper with the media.
The head coach of the Steelers says he is aware of the constant scrutiny surrounding him.
Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan of the Steelers fielded questions from the media regarding the draft procedure during the team’s pre-draft news conference.
Now that he is a member of the roster, Tomlin was questioned about his Pro Day routines, particularly his visit to Ohio State’s Pro Day to observe Justin Fields a couple years prior. Tomlin’s response was a little unexpected.
“I know everyone is watching, so sometimes at Pro Days, I’m staring at people I’m not interested in,” Tomlin admitted. To be very honest, not many of my colleagues operate on the Pro Day circuit in the same manner as me.
the manner in which I operate. I now realize that my actions, the things I focus on, and the people I interact with all serve as media material. I therefore occasionally enjoy myself with you guys.
Shortly after signing Russell Wilson and sending Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Steelers acquired Fields. It was no secret that Mike Tomlin was a huge fan of Fields’ at the time he entered the draft. Furthermore, on a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette stated that if Fields had lost to the Steelers in 2021, Tomlin would have selected him in the draft.
