After fighting an injury, Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal is expected to return to action at the Mutua Madrid Open. Toni Nadal, Rafael’s uncle and former coach, has offered his latest comments on the player.
Given his recent health issues, Rafael Nadal’s presence is a huge plus for the competition, but Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the front-runners.
“Let’s see if he can play three matches in the Mutua Madrid Open and, if it’s feasible, seven matches at Roland Garros without losing the championship match. I’m hoping that he has no issues and that he continues to readjust to the competition. Toni stated of Rafael Nadal, who has only played two matches at Roland Garros, “I know Rafa needs to play, because arriving at Roland Garros without enough matches is very dangerous, even more so now that he is not seeded and you can play an Alcaraz or a Sinner in the first round.”
