On yet another hectic transfer day, Sheffield United signs Brereton Díaz, while Inter signs Buchanan.
We appreciate you coming to hear about all the transfer news today. Let’s take a look at the most popular stories that have been circulating:
Ben Brereton Diaz is loaned to Sheffield United, while Luke Williams is named manager of Swansea City.
Finn Azaz of Aston Villa signs with Middlesborough Salford City names Karl Robinson Everton as their appeals manager. Red card for Calvert-Lewin
That’s all we have for you today, but don’t forget to follow all of our FA Cup coverage this weekend. Enjoy the remainder of your Friday.
Azaz of Villa heads towards Middlesborough
An excellent move by Middlesborough as they recruit Finn Azaz, a midfielder for Aston Villa.
After spending the first half of the season on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Azaz has now joined Middlesborough for an unknown price.
Because his old team, Villa, is facing Middlesborough tomorrow, he is ineligible to make his FA Cup debut.
Mary Earps, the goalkeeper at Manchester United, is the major transfer rumor in women’s football this transfer window. Last summer, Arsenal offered United a record-breaking price for the England international, but United turned it down.
The Euros winner’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, therefore it’s thought that several clubs are interested in signing her. However, there are also rumors that she might decide to stay put.
According to The Telegraph, Earps is amenable to continuing at United, the team she joined in 2019. It appears that we will have to wait and see as the keeper is starting in goal for United against PSV today.
Claxon siren! Yes there has been another signing and it’s in the Championship once again. Huddersfield Town have signed U19 Serbian international Bojan Radulović from HJK Helsinki for an undisclosed fee.
The deal runs for three-and-a-half years and manager Darren Moore said of the forward: “A forward of Bojan’s profile is someone we’ve really wanted to introduce to the squad, so I’m absolutely delighted that he’s signed a long-term contract with the club.
“We are blessed with real attacking talent and flair in wide areas and midfield, but through injury and unavailability have lacked a forward who can help tie that all together, finish chances in the box with regularity and create space and opportunities for others to exploit, which his size, skill and ability will now allow us.”
Arsenal defender Noelle Martiz is reportedly leaving the Gunners in this transfer window, according to Blick Sport.
The 28-year-old Switzerland international has been at Arsenal since 2020 but has interest from other Women’s Super League clubs with Aston Villa among the front runners to sign her.
Bournemouth boss Iraola also spoke on another potential transfer, saying Wales international Kieffer Moore could depart this month.
“He was close in the summer market to leaving the club, but every party decided he stayed with us,” Iraola said. “He has been helping the team a lot, but not probably playing as many minutes as he wants.
“Dominic (Solanke) has been really performing at a good level and it is difficult to take him out of the game when we are playing with just one forward.
“It will be something that he (Moore) will have a lot to say about this, for me it’s the most important part to listen to the players. Some will prefer to stay and improve their roles, others will prefer to leave for different places where they can probably play more.
“If that’s the player’s opinion, the clubs start to negotiate and make the numbers work.”
Thank you Dominic! Friday night drinks have come around quickly haven’t they? Christmas and New Year have really scrambled my brain on what day it is. Right, anyway, back to football.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is getting in on the transfer talk and says he and the club have to get used to speculation talk around Lloyd Kelly’s future with his contract running out in six months.
“For me, he’s been one of our best players, he’s been really good and is a key part of the team,” he said. “It’s unlucky for us that he’s been injured a lot recently. He’s still not with the group, he’s doing well but he’s running on his own and he has things to do before he can join the group.
“I think it’s something that we have to accept (speculation).”
Right, that’s my hour done and I’ll hand back over to the dutiful Sarah Rendell, who will see you through to your Friday night drinks.
Sound that done deal claxon again. Lewis Travis has joined Ipswich on loan from Blackburn Rovers. He’ll wear the No 28 shirt with the Tractor Boys … and a quick glance at the X comments tells me that Blackburn fans aren’t too happy to see him going. The midfielder was captain at Ewood Park. Answers on a postcard please.
Luton’s Rob Edwards is delighted that Andros Townsend has signed a long-term contract with the Hatters after impressing in his short time at Kenilworth Road.
Andros has got an amazing attitude. He has some determination, is very driven, really focussed. He has worked tirelessly on himself to make sure he is in the best condition possible to perform.
I am delighted to make it more long term. The supporters have really taken to him. He has had a real impact on the club in a positive way. I am really pleased with him.
Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 = taking Premier League cast-offs on loan.
You’d hope that Wolves, after loaning Fabio Silva to Rangers as well, have a striker signing in mind this month.
