His first five seasons of career were spent with the Carolina Panthers, where he recorded 46.0 sacks and was twice chosen for the Pro Bowl (2021–2022). The Green Bay Packers selected Runyan with the 192nd overall pick, sixth round, in 2020. In his four years in the NFL, he has not missed a single game. Runyan has started 50 of 51 games in the last three seasons after participating in all 16 games as a reserve in his rookie year. According to Pro Football Focus, the 6-foot-4, 307-pound lineman started all 17 games at right guard in 2023 and gave up only 22 total pressures and two sacks. Among all guards, his 92.4 pass rush win rate placed him sixth, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
In 2022, Runyan made 17 starts for the Packers, 11 of them at right guard and 6 at left guard. In 2021, he started every one of Green Bay’s 17 games at left guard. Throughout his NFL career, he has played 1,897 pass blocking snaps in total and has given up just seven sacks.
During his 14-year NFL career, which included nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, his father, Jon Sr., frequently faced off against Giants defensive end Michael Strahan. His career stats include 53 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, seven quarterback hits, 406 total tackles (314 solo), nine tackles for loss, and seven interceptions (one recovered for a score).
The 6-foot, 200-pound safety contributed significantly to the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl run. He started 15 games, finished with 14 passes defensed and three interceptions, a career best. In addition, he recorded five more pass breakups in Philadelphia’s three postseason games that he started.
