BREAKING NEWS: Giants three reasons for chosen Darius Muasau, LB; for 2024 NFL Draft…

Darius Muasau, LB, was chosen by the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In the 183rd round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected UCLA linebacker Darius Muasau with their sixth-round selection. The 23-year-old linebacker Muasau is tiny but has outstanding eye discipline and football IQ.

Muasau was selected in the sixth round of the draft due to his tiny stature and physical limitations. Nevertheless, he works effectively in the box and has a fast trigger. Because of his limited sideline-to-sideline range, I have concerns about how he will handle man coverage responsibilities when facing NFL pass catchers.UCLA Football: Darius Muasau Heads to NFC North in Latest Mock Draft

Muasau attended Hawaii for his first three seasons of play before moving to UCLA. He led his defense in tackles throughout the course of his last four seasons. With 440 tackles, 40 tackles for a loss, 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and 17 passes defended at the end of his college career, and five interceptions over 3,640 collegiate snaps. Darius Muasau is a naturally gifted linebacker whose play speed belies his testing statistics. He’s in the right place most of the time, which is how he makes plays in coverage and as a run defender. In addition, he is a physically strong athlete who has 16.5 career sacks as a college pass-rusher for an off-ball linebacker.

Muasau is on the smaller side and had unimpressive results at the combine, so it’s uncertain how well his skills will translate to the NFL. His lack of speed is noticeable when he is covered by a guy against quicker tight ends and running backs, as well as against outside runs.
