Nottingham Forest could be given a huge boost for their trip to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon as Nuno Espirito Santo reveals Taiwo Awoniyi could feature.
Awoniyi’s season has been marred by persistent injury struggles, severely limiting his game time with Nottingham Forest. The 26-year-old forward has only managed to start 13 games across all competitions this season, completing a full 90 minutes just once, notably in a Premier League clash against Bournemouth back in February.
His absence has been noticeable in recent outings, as he has been sidelined for the last seven Premier League fixtures, with his last appearance dating back to the 1-0 defeat against Brighton at the American Express Stadium last month.
Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo revealed in his pre-match press conference that Awoniyi could feature against the Blades in a crucial encounter at Bramall Lane.
“He was out all week. He started today with the group so let’s see if he has this positive feeling. I think he can help us. He joined the team today, he had good feelings, we still have to wait for tomorrow to see how it goes.
“If he feels okay like he felt today, I think he can definitely help with his experience, he’s a goalscorer.”
Last season Awoniyi scored ten goals to help keep the Reds up, and he started this campaign off in fine form scoring three goals in his first three games, one of which was against Sheffield United at the City Ground.
