Florida State has been busy on the transfer portal where it acquired several playmakers for its football team. The Seminoles are looking to repeat their success from a season ago where it accomplished an undefeated regular season and a conference championship.
The coaching staff has had many transfer portal prospects that have panned out. The Seminoles added pieces such as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver Malik Benson, defensive end Marvin Jones Jr., linebacker Shawn Murphy, and cornerback Earl Little Jr.
Speaking of Uiagalelei, he is the signal-caller for the squad so he will get a majority of the conversation. He has big shoes to fill as the former Clemson and Oregon State transfer will look to replace the likes of Jordan Travis, who is off to the NFL.
It has been a rocky collegiate career for Uiagalelei after being a highly-touted high school prospect. However, as head football coach Mike Norvell alludes, he remains focused at the task at hand rather than concentrating on the past.
One thing that sticks out to Uiagalelei is that he wanted to become a Seminole. When he knew that he was transferring from Oregon State, his interest in Florida State was very high.
The Seminoles did a phenomenal job recruiting him. Plus, he serves as a bridge gap for the position as younger options such as Brock Glenn, Luke Kromenhoek, and Trever Jackson grow and develop.
On non-football-related news, Uiagalelei posted on social media that he proposed to his long-time girlfriend. While I realize at ChopChat that we cover sports-related updates and news, it is important to note that this is a big milestone in the young man’s life.
This is amazing to see Uiagalelei be able to take the next step in his relationship with his significant other. As many individuals don’t want to believe this, these college athletes are people too. I am excited for Uiagalelei as he embarks this new chapter in his life.
