The racetrack was not the end of the drivers’ conversation. Wallace was initially texted by Bowman to express his regret for the initial hit during a wait. In an interview with FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, Wallace described the exchange.
I received a text from [Alex Bowman saying, ‘Hey dude, sorry, immediately locked up.'” Until he appeared on television, he made no mention of switches,” he stated. “‘If there’s any consolation, my s**t’s wrecked too,’ he says. Following the race, I emailed him, saying, “Yeah, real destroyed, nice job on the win.” Thus, everything is well.”
Wallace did not escape the ramifications of the episode, nevertheless. He was fined $50,000 by NASCAR for his actions. Wallace described his conflicted emotions upon discovering this fine while attending the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“I will say I got my media training from Kevin Harvick,” he said.
Kevin Harvick asks, ‘Are you prepared to go?'” Are you prepared to proceed with qualifying? “Nope not really, just got fined,” I replied. “Dude, that really stinks.” He instructed me to accept it and show up smiling. Here is my smile, then. Even though I disagree with the punishment, it makes me happy. He also imparted to me a great deal of wisdom.
