Raiders are linked to Justin Fields of the Bears before his free agency in 2024.
If the Chicago Bears decide to trade quarterback Justin Fields, the Las Vegas Raiders are probably among the clubs interested in acquiring him, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Atlanta Falcons are among the other teams Fowler mentioned as possible suitors for Fields.
In the past, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has stated that the team will try to acquire a quarterback in the summer instead of continuing to use Aidan O’Connell, who started ten games in his debut season after veteran Jimmy Garoppolo was benched.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Garoppolo will likely be cut by the Raiders this offseason.
Pierce stated on February 28 that “you don’t want to put a Band-Aid at that position,” as reported by Vic Tafur of The Athletic. “We’ve seen that enough in this organization.”

It’s unclear if Fields—who, in the last year of his rookie contract (2024, will pay slightly over $6 million against the cap—will be that long-term fix. The decision to exercise his 2025 club option, which Spotrac estimates will cost $25.6 million, will fall to his new team.
In a season limited by a thumb injury, Fields played 13 games in 2023, amassing a 5-8 record and 2,562 passing yards for 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
A poll of eight NFL executives and coaches recently conducted by The Athletic’s Jeff Howe found that most people in the league expect the Bears to receive a second- or third-round pick in return for Fields, although ESPN’s Courtney Cronin projected last week that he could net both a second- and fourth-round selection.
Fowler added that there is also “plenty of smoke” surrounding a potential trade that would send Fields to the Falcons.
“As one league source put it, Atlanta has done enough work on Fields, [Kirk] Cousins and Baker Mayfield that the chances of coming away with one of them are fairly good,” Fowler wrote.
