Jayden Daniels, the NFL quarterback for the Washington Commanders, recently showed some unexpected support for NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace. The two athletes’ endearing exchange started on social media when a picture of Daniels sporting a red 23XI Racing bomber jacket—which is connected to Wallace—went viral. Using the hashtag “#ProBowlVote,” the image, which was posted by the official Washington Commanders’ X account, went viral and effectively conveyed Daniels’ support for Wallace. The Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles by a slim margin of 36–33, solidifying their place as a strong team in the NFC East standings.

  • It was a fitting preamble to an exciting game. Wallace and his team, 23XI Racing, which is co-owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, have encountered many difficulties in recent months because of NASCAR’s charter agreement. Front Row Motorsports and 23XI Racing, a well-known NASCAR team founded in 2020, chose not to sign the NASCAR charter agreement. Their ability to compete in future events was called into question by this ruling. In a positive legal development, though, a federal judge decided in their favor, enabling the teams to play in 2025. NASCAR has filed an appeal.

The uncertainty surrounding 23XI Racing’s future posed a potential threat to Wallace’s career, prompting considerations of options outside the team. Fortunately, the recent legal victory offers some relief to Wallace and his team, amidst the ongoing legal contest with NASCAR. A recent court filing revealed, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports: “23XI’s contract with driver Riley Herbst similarly requires that Herbst be provided with a chartered car, as does Front Row’s contract with driver Noah Gragson. “Other drivers have expressed similarly urgent concerns. Driver Bubba Wallace informed 23XI that he needs to know how it intends to compete ‘immediately’ so that he can explore seats with other teams.”
