Three years ago, the New York Giants signed Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen from the Buffalo Bills to help rebuild the team. Now that the team is sitting with just two wins and making history in the third year of their tenure, John Mara and the ownership must make a choice.
Although Schoen and Daboll were brought in together and have a relationship dating back to their time with the Bills, Dianna Russini of The Athletic thinks the Giants could keep one of the two.
Dianna Russini stated on Scoop City, “I believe there is a world where perhaps one goes and one stays; I do.” “I’ve spoken with individuals in the league who think Joe Schoen will
It makes sense that this is a possibility because Mara has previously stated that the head coach and general manager are assessed independently. Reports suggest that the Giants want to bring both back despite the loss, but it’s unclear what external pressure will cause them to do.
The notion that Daboll should be fired was resisted by former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel, who pointed to Schoen’s past mistakes as evidence.
Chase Daniel stated, “In terms of depth, he has chosen to bring Daniel Jones back and not select a quarterback in the top quarterback draft class of the past ten years.” He then declines to re-sign Saquon Barkley. As a coach, Brian Daboll excels. You will continue to
“Schoen and Daboll are not tied at the hip,” Russini went on to reiterate. The Giants might be able to retain one of the two.
The bottom line, in my opinion, is that they are not together when you consider the circumstances in New York. They’re not a pair. That is not how it is viewed,” Russini stated. “So, as we watch over the next two weeks, bear that in mind.”
