After visiting the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran defensive tackle signs with the Miami Dolphins.
According to NFL source Jordan Schultz, defensive tackle Teair Tart, a former member of the Titans and Texans, is set to sign with the Dolphins.
Tart didn’t sign a contract after visiting the Bengals last month. Tart has 2.5 sacks and 79 tackles in his career.
According to a source with knowledge of the discussions who spoke with The Associated Press on Friday, the Miami Dolphins are adding defensive tackle Teair Tart to a one-year contract in an effort to strengthen their defense.
Before being waived in December of 2023, Tart had nine games started for the Titans and finished with 21 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack. Tart was subsequently taken off waivers by Houston, and in his first two games with the Texans, he recorded three tackles.
Tart, a 2020 undrafted free agent out of Florida International, has 14 quarterback hits, 2 1/2 sacks, and 79 tackles. Tennessee was the place where he played for four seasons of his career.
Tart joins the Dolphins’ roster of defensive signings made this offseason. Miami signed safety Jordan Poyer, linebackers Shaquil Barrett and Anthony Walker Jr., cornerback Kendall Fuller, and defensive tackles Benito Jones, Neville Gallimore, and Jonathan Harris last month.
