NFL Draft prospect for the Raiders from Clemson, HB Will Shipley.
The Las Vegas Raiders currently have eight selections in the 2024 NFL Draft, which provides them plenty of flexibility to address a number of position groupings.
The Raiders should select a running back on Day 3 in order to have a young option for the next four years, even if Las Vegas probably won’t view the need for a back as a top priority. Will Shipley, a prospect at halfback for Clemson, may be eligible on Day 3.
In 12 games (eight starts) with the Tigers the previous season, Shipley amassed 827 running yards, five rushing touchdowns, 244 receiving yards, and two receiving scores. Phil Steele and College Football Network selected him an All-ACC honorable mention and an All-ACC Third Team honoree.
With 134 all-purpose yards, including a 60-yard kickoff return to help the Tigers mount a late comeback, the prospect helped guide Clemson to a 9-4 record, which included a tight 38-35 victory over Kentucky in the Gator Bowl. The fourth quarter began with them behind 21–10. Shipley received an overall rating of 72.9 for his 2023 season from Pro Football Focus.
Shipley showed off his abilities at Clemson’s Pro Day but did not take part in NFL Combine activities. The 5-foot-11, 206-pound halfback received an athleticism score of 85 from NFL Next Gen Stats, good for seventh among halfbacks in his draft class. In addition, he obtained a productivity score of 66 and a total score of 75, ranking sixth among halfbacks.
Lance Zierlein, an NFL analyst, rates Shipley as follows Even though he is not likely to move NFL mounds, he can balance through contact. Shipley can set up opponents from anywhere on the pitch, and she is agile enough to hop over obstacles and hurdle over people. Although he still needs to improve as a third-down option and isn’t a workhorse, his physical ability and skill level may pave the road for him to become an effective RB2 early on.” The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. With the 13th overall pick right now, it belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Talented receiver, kick returner, and versatile running back. Because of his early speed, Shipley can outpace linebackers to the corner and weave between creases. Being a versatile runner, he anticipates the linebackers and plans his runs with an awareness of run lane growth and defensive positioning.
