Source: Steelers Nearly Signed Former QB for Ravens
Justin Fields was almost traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a former quarterback of the Ravens.
Pittsburgh This season, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback room nearly had a whole different appearance. The roster was nearly complete entering the season with Wilson, Kenny Pickett, and a former starter from the Baltimore Ravens. Now, it is led by Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen.
Before Tyler Huntley signed with the Cleveland Browns, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com claims that the Steelers were close to making a deal with the former Ravens quarterback. After Wilson and Pickett, the Pro Bowl backup was nearly the third quarterback in Pittsburgh.
“Huntley was believed to have had a chance to sign with the Steelers in free agency, a source told cleveland.com, but became the odd man out when they traded for Justin Fields,” writes Cabot.
In the end, Huntley signed a $1.1 million, one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. After Deshaun Watson, he will have competition from Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Jameis Winston for a roster place.
The Steelers, on the other hand, made the decision to add Allen in place of him, drastically altering their quarterback room in 2024. A younger quarterback could also be considered; they recently brought in a local prospect for a private session.
