Travelman Kicker Re-Signed by the Steelers
A second kicker is being added to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster.
Pittsburgh After playing for many teams last season, 28-year-old veteran kicker Matthew Wright of the Carolina Panthers is returning to the Steel City as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2022, Wright made four appearances for the Steelers following Chris Boswell’s groin injury. From 2020 to now, he has made numerous stops in the NFL. He played for the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, and New England Patriots while he was a player in Pittsburgh.

In 24 games, he’s made 40 of 47 field goals and 94.6 percent of his extra point attempts. In Pittsburgh, he converted 12 out of 14 field goals.

Chris Boswell is still under contract with the Steelers, so it’s unlikely that Wright is traveling to Pittsburgh to battle for a position on the roster. In all likelihood, this keeps Boswell off the field during the preseason and permits Pittsburgh to have two kickers on the roster during training camp.

Wright has the chance to record more of his training camp and preseason work, and both teams get even more acquainted with one another in case the Steelers need to get in touch with one another during the season.
