West Boca Raton, Fla., High School safety Jaydin Broadnax made it to Louisville to check out a spring football practice in late March.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Broadnax was back on Friday night among a large group of visitors at the U of L Spring Game. He is a prospect in the Class of 2026 and was among about 10 or so prospects from the state of Florida.
And, once again, Broadnax was impressed by Louisville.
“This visit was great,” Broadnax told Cardinal Authority. “I think the team is going to have a big year under that staff again for sure.
“The coaches definitely know what they’re talking about and know what it takes to win.”
Broadnax is not yet ranked but has over 21 scholarship offers. He said the U of L staff made it clear that he was a “top priority.”
“They spoke with me, telling me I’m a top priority in the 26′ class,” he said. “Saying I’d have an amazing college career at Louisville.”
Louisville extended a scholarship offer to Broadnax on March 7. He also has early offers from FIU, Illinois, Kentucky, Liberty, Marshall, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Toledo, UCF, USF, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, East Carolina, Syracuse, and Wisconsin.
Broadnax is keeping busy checking out the programs that are expressing high interest, with recent visits at FAU and Miami.
As a sophomore, Broadnax proved to be a shutdown corner. He totaled 49 tackles, to go with a pair of interceptions, 10 pass break ups, a blocked punt and two fumble recoveries.
The University of Louisville hosted an impressive group of visitors for Friday night’s Spring Game.
Among the handful of four-star prospects was a top 100 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 – Brandon Bennett. The 6-foot, 170-pound top-100 prospect nationally attends American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and was among the large group of prospects to visit.
Bennett said he was blown away by what he saw at U of L.
“I loved The Ville,” Bennett said. “They welcomed me with open arms, and as soon as I stepped in, they made it feel like home.”
Bennett, who has over 20 scholarship offers already on the table, said he was able to spend some time with U of L wide receivers coach Garrick McGee. He said that his relationship with McGee has really taken off in recent months.
“My relationship with Coach McGee is great and is continuing to improve,” he said. “I love the offensive schemes and play style.
“It is an offense that complements my skill set very well.”
One of the fastest players in Florida, Bennett ran a 10.4-second 100-meter dash as a freshman in high school. Bennett ran a leg on the same 4×100 gold medal-winning team at the state track meet last year for American Heritage.
Bennett had 21 catches for 479 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore.
U of L incoming freshman Jimmy Williams was a teammate of Bennett’s at American Heritage last season.
Bennett is ranked as the No. 64 player in the nation and the No. 9 player in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
