the championship group Wayne Rooney, a former captain of England, has been named head coach of Plymouth Argyle.
The 38-year-old replaces Ian Foster, who was fired on April 1st due to a string of unsatisfactory performance.
This is Rooney’s first position since Birmingham City fired him on January 2nd, less than three months into his dismal tenure, during which he dropped nine out of 15 games.
After 15 months as DC United’s American manager, he departed in October of last year to take the Birmingham position after failing to lead the Washington-based team to the Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs.
