Legendary Celtic FC’s wife passes away during trip, requiring an emergency landing at Cork Airport

Tommy Burns’ widow passed away yesterday on a flight from Tenerife that was diverted to Cork Airport because of a medical issue. Tommy Burns is a Celtics legend.
Rosemary Burns reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning after becoming ill on a Jet2 flight headed for Glasgow.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the flight LS176 left Tenerife and was traveling to Scotland when the cabin crew transmitted code 7700 Squawk to announce an emergency.
A Squawk 7700 code can be given in the event of a technical, environmental, or medical emergency that requires rapid attention. It signifies that there is an emergency aboard the aircraft. When the call came in, the plane was flying close to our southern shore, and Cork Airport quickly started plans to land the unscheduled trip.

As per the Daily Record, the 69-year-old fell ill during his vacation in the Canaries and took an earlier flight back home.
“Rosemary fell ill while on vacation in Tenerife,” they stated. After getting sick, she felt compelled to return home. She made the decision to return home to Scotland by plane.
“She was sick as she boarded the aircraft. The flight was diverted to Cork instead of Glasgow, where it was originally scheduled to land.”
Jet2 verified that early on Wednesday morning, a passenger on flight LS176 fell ill, leading to the flight’s diversion to Cork.
A social media post honoring Rosemary has been released by Celtic FC.
“Everyone at Celtic Football Club is devastated to hear of the passing of Rosemary Burns, wife of Celtic legend Tommy Burns,” the club declared in a statement.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club, and the entire Celtic Family are with Emma, Jenna, Michael and Jonathan at this desperately sad time.”
When Rosemary was just 17 years old, she met Tommy at a Glasgow disco. Following their 1980 wedding, the couple had four children together. Tommy passed away in 2008, after 28 years of marriage.
Tommy was a Celtic player for 14 years, during which he won six league titles, five Scottish Cups, and one League Cup medal.
After taking over as manager at Celtic Park once more in 1994, he helped the Glasgow team win its first trophy in six years in 1995—the Scottish Cup.
